The Binational Health Council (SMAC) will be holding their annual conference on Friday, October 10, 2014, from 8AM to 5PM at the Multi-Purpose Center in Rio Grande City, Tx. Health professionals from the United States and Mexico will come together to provide information on health issues affecting residents on both sides of the border.

Planting Fall Gardens

Planting Fall Gardens

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is gearing up to support Fall planting in Starr County; helping schools and families learn to grow their own food. During August, sites were tilled and prepared for planting. Currently 12 gardens are being set up throughout the county.

WOW Coalition

In 2011, the Working on Wellness (WOW) Coalition was formed with people from across Starr County. Community members from Rio Grande City, Roma, and San Isidro came together with the goal of improving health.
